The audience almost lost it when the "Valley People" performed on stage. Sincere apologies to the "Village People!"

Parents, Joan and Wendy get into the Christmas spirit.

The Staff item finally brought an end to the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

During the evening, the school Christmas raffle was drawn and raised just over $1000 for the school. Then, as usual, the evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display, sponsored by Kookaburra Council.

The school would like to thank Georgie Goldfinch, Dianne Gordon and Chris Rogge for organizing the raffle.

On Monday 11th December, the school held its annual Family Christmas Evening on the school oval. This very popular occasion is always a wonderful opportunity for families to celebrate the conclusion of another school year.

The evening commenced in traditional picnic spirit with a family barbeque at 6:30 p.m. Many families arrived early to take up advantage spots for the performances due to commence at 7:30 p.m.

During the evening the Senior School Choir and School Band performed a selection of Christmas carols and other songs. Special thanks to Barb Williams (conductor) and Catherine Parker (pianist) for their great work throughout the year.
Right: Mr Marshall lends some support to the School Band.

Above: The Senior School Choir is always a big hit on Christmas Evening

Other highlights during the evening were the Junior Primary Choir performing a delightful Christmas tableau, and a talented group of Year 6 students presenting their version of "La Boheme."

Then on a much lighter note, the much anticipated items or performances (for want of a better word) given by the staff and parents. If you scoured the entire universe, it is extremely doubtful that you could put together a more creative, talented and entertaining group of performers (Yeah, right .... cough, splutter, choke, choke).

Above: The parents version of Abba's hit, "When I Kissed the Teacher"...... with just a wee bit of embarrassment for poor, Mr Marshall !

Over the years, there have been many versions of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' .............but NONE quite like this one, thanks to an extremely bashful group of mothers. It was rumoured that some of their children refused to recognize them after the performance had finished.

On a more serious note, the evening once again proved something that everybody already knew. That at Happy Valley School, there exists a very special bond between parents, children and teachers .......... and that 's the way it has been for over a hundred years!
