Performance Day provided an excellent experience for students wishing to gain selection in the school's Tournament of Minds team.

Performance Day provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate student success in our school.

Performance Day also provided an opportunity to strengthen the school's Peer Support programme.

Performance Day also highlighted the fact that learning experiences can be a whole lot of fun at Happy Valley School.

One of the programmes that is highly valued and encouraged at Happy Valley Schools is Peer Support. A focus on this programme is evident across the whole school from Reception to Year 7.

The Peer Support programme has been very successful in many schools across Australia. Among its many aims, the programme attempts to provide children with the ability to cope better with the following:-
   Cooperation
   Communication

Feelings and Emotions

Relationships

Friendship

Obeying Rules

Team Building

Decision Making

Problem Solving

Self Awareness

Happy Valley seeks to achieve these goals in many ways. One of the methods used is Buddy Classes, where older students are teamed up with younger classes. This system is used to train all students in Peer Support and provide many other opportunities for students across the whole school to provide valuable support for each other.

Joanne, Trent, Jessica, Ellana, Kelly, Jordan and Torey solve the "Mystery of the Open Front Door"

On the last Wednesday of Term 2, a Performance Day was held. Sixteen groups of students from across the whole school presented plays to an assembly of all students. Each group was presented with a variety of problems and asked to prepare a solution in the form of a play.

The plays showed in five minutes, how the groups solved their chosen problem, providing a lot of entertainment as they did.

The groups, all made up of younger and older students, learnt many problem solving and performing skills in both the preparation and presentation phases of their work.

Congratulations to all students who participated and also to the audience for their very positive involvement.
