One of the most popular highlights of our school year is the annual School Sports Day. The 2001 School Sports Day was once again held in Term 1 and was well attended by a large group of parents, friends and ex-students.

Students enjoyed the friendly rivalry between the four School Houses, Chandler, Mason, Nicolle and Shepherd. This rivalry has existed ever since the house system was first introduced in 1978.

Our Sports Day is conducted on a participation basis with all children encouraged to take part in all events, except the Championship Sprints and Team Relays. These events are contested by the fastest runners from each year level.

Although the main emphasis is on enjoyment, improving personal performances, skill development, fitness and participation by all, the Primary section of the school (Year 3-7) competes in a House competition. All children contribute points to their House for each event in which they participate.

This year, the school employed TriSkills for The Junior Primary activities (R-Yr2).  The feedback from staff, students and parents was very positive. The activities were based on skill development, enjoyment and participation by all.

Nevertheless, the students were very keen to succeed and they tried very hard to achieve their best.

The photograph at right shows one Junior Primary student testing his skill in a gymnastic event.
