Santos Stadium

It was a great thrill for our athletes to compete at a first class athletics venue such as Santos Stadium in Mile End, Adelaide.

Transport to the stadium was provided by a willing group of parents and supporters.

District Athletics Day is an annual event on the school calendar. This year it was held on Wednesday 4th May at Santos Stadium, the home of athletics in South Australia. District Athletics Day brings together the best athletes from schools in the southern area of Adelaide to compete in a selection of track and field events.  Winners then go on to compete in the State Athletics Championships.

Our school representatives were chosen on their performance at our own School Sports Day in Term 1, and in selection trials conducted by specialist Physical Education teacher, Scott Francis. This year, our students performed extremely well and finished third overall, only one point behind joint winners Flagstaff Hill Primary and Woodend Primary School. Final scores were:-

=1st 133 Woodend Primary School
3rd 132 Happy Valley Primary School

All of our athletes competed very well with several students winning selection for the State Athletics Day.  Congratulations to everyone for their outstanding behaviour and the high standards they achieved in their events. Most of our students recorded personal best performances. Although everyone strived to achieve, the following students are to be especially congratulated for their efforts on the day.
