Year 6 & 7 students enjoy a game of volley ball with Mr. Francis

Orientation Day is an annual event at Happy Valley School. The purpose of the day is to highlight the special expectations and considerations our Year 6 and 7 teachers give to our young adolescents.  The Middle Schooling Orientation Day is an opportunity for our Year 6 and 7 students to begin to recognize that their teachers understand the enormous physical, emotional and social changes that students go through during this period in their lives.  It is also a point at which the school emphasizes the importance of leadership skills, self-esteem, independence and interdependence.  This is a fabulous day, full of special activities and discussions.  A number of willing parents are usually on hand to help with the special lunch and at least eight staff members are involved in the activity sessions.

The parachute with Mr. Draper is always a favourite during the morning activities.

The main aims of Orientation Day are as follows:-

  • To promote leadership skills

  • To foster a sense of cooperation and team-work

  • To have fun

  • To encourage students to participate in a wider range of school programmes

  • To enable students to display leaderships skills

  • To increase self confidence in our senior students

  • To provide an opportunity for students, staff and parents to interact

  • To promote values such as honesty, respect, individual rights and responsibilities.

The barbecue lunch provided by the parents is always enjoyed by everyone

This year the day was held on Thursday 17th February. The morning fun activities were held outdoors and involved a wide variety of activities aimed at enjoyment and cooperation. After a barbecue lunch, the students and staff moved indoors to work on team-building, personal development and goal-setting activities.

Walking on stilts presented a challenge for our senior students.

Walking on geeta boards required lots of cooperation.

The school would like to thank the parents who assisted with the BBQ lunch. It was a most successful day and one which was enjoyed by staff and students alike.
